Five deaths reported in Jefferson, Hardin counties

As of 5 p.m. April 6, local health departments reported there have been five coronavirus-related deaths in the tri-county region. 

Earlier in the day, the Port Arthur Public Health Department reported the death of a resident aged 

Beaumont Public Health reported a third death of a Beaumont resident. The female patient was between 60-70 years old. In addition to the death, Beaumont reported confirmations of 19 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the totla number of cases up to 52, 48 in the city limits, two in China, one in Fannett and one in Nome.

In Beaumont, two of those confirmed were between ages 10-20. The patients were up to 100 years of age, according to department information. 

Throughout the entire region, there are now 144 confirmed cases. 31 in Hardin County, 78 in Jefferson, 29 in Orange, three in Jasper County, one in Newton County, and two in Tyler County.
