BPD identifies mystery victim

After posting four photos of a dead man’s tattooed limbs in hopes to identify him, Beaumont police told reporters Sept. 7 family identified the victim.

Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers caused a stir on social media Sept. 6 after posting a series of photos depicting an unidentified dead man’s limbs. Family members later thanked officers for posting the photos when identifying the man as Enrique Martinez Juarez, 34, of Reynosa, Mexico.

“His family is very thankful to everyone that shared the pictures,” said BPD Spokeswoman Carol Riley. “They live in Mexico, and they were able to see the pictures and identify him.”

According to the original release, BPD officers responded Monday, Sept. 5, at about  9:46 p.m., to the 2100 block of Tyler Street in reference to a man found laying in a ditch.

“(Juarez) had no identification on his person or fingerprints on file,” officers reported Sept. 6. “Detectives are in the early stages of the investigation and are releasing pictures of some of the victim’s tattoos to help identify him.
