Lumberton ISD reached out to local media outlets notifying the public that the LISD school board president and other trustees have decided to bring two calendar options to the board at the board’s next meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Tony Tipton stated Board President James Kersh and several other board members will present two calendar options to the full board at the Thursday, Feb. 2, regular meeting to be held at the LISD Administration Building.

“Our board president, James Kersh, in concert with several other board members, has decided to bring two calendar options to the full board in February for consideration and possible approval,” Tipton stated. “One calendar is the hybrid four-day that was originally presented in January.

“The other will be the traditional option that mirrors this year’s calendar. Board members have received feedback from many sources since the January meeting to the point where Kersh feels both options should be discussed and considered.”

At the Jan. 5 meeting, the board was deadlocked (3 to 3) to continue a four-day calendar option, with Trustee Dr. Chad Hammett abstaining.
