BISD closes ahead of TS Nicholas

In response to the impending impact of Tropical Storm Nicholas, the Beaumont Independent School District (BISD) schools will be closed Tuesday, September 14, in an abundance of caution.

Tropical Storm Nicholas is predicted to impact the Beaumont area with possible high winds and rain beginning late Monday, September 13. According to a news release from BISD, the facilities and campuses will be closed, all staff will not be required to work unless contacted by their immediate supervisor. There will be no virtual instruction available to students. A decision about school on Wednesday and the remainder of the week will be made on Tuesday afternoon.

"All district events will also be suspended until further notice," the release read. "The district will continue to monitor the situation and updates will be communicated through the district website, social media and email/call notifications. Please remember to keep you and your family safe during this time. Please make sure to heed the warnings and follow the directives issued by our local authorities."
