Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers arrested approximately 20 suspects after responding to 10500 Vinson St. in reference to numerous subjects blocking the roadway.

According to a Feb. 11 news release, these subjects were reported to have handguns and rifles. The first officers to arrive in the area observed 17-year-old Daniel Harvey, a Beaumont resident, holding a gun. He threw the weapon into a vehicle as soon as he saw officers.

There were numerous subjects in the area, some ran, while some complied with officers’ demands. Additional units responded, and approximately 20 subjects were detained. Officers located and seized seven handguns and two rifles. Some of the guns were reportedly hidden in a ditch and in a culvert. Two of the guns were reported stolen out of Beaumont.

Harvey was transported to the Jefferson County Jail and booked in for unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was not listed on the inmate roster as of Feb. 14.
