Gathering for a grand cause
The 11th annual Family Portrait luncheon was held last Thursday at the MCM Eleganté to benefit the many programs of the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeast Texas. Guest speaker Mary Moreland, who has connections with our fair city as her late mom, Jane Philp Moreland, grew up in Beaumont. This year’s luncheon also had a special meaning for co-chair Catherine Holtzclaw – her niece was the guest speaker and sister of Jane. Yours truly introduced Karen and Bob Wortham, who were the honorary chairs for their devotion of their time and talents to our community. Executive Director Shanna Briggs did an amazing job for this fantastic and clever fundraiser. Roy Philp, uncle of the guest speaker gave an inspiring invocation. On their toes… graduating seniors Lily Hebert, Sophie Madden, Faith Thomas, Emerie Callas and Daphne Wiltz had family and friends on the edge of their seats Saturday evening at the Julie Rogers Theatre for Marsha Woody Academy of Dance 67th recital, “Dancing with the Stars.” It was their last incredible performance with the wonderful dance company. Guests were entertained for almost 3 hours with the performances, which included the wee little ones through high school seniors. Entertaining the crowd with their talent were Vivianne Ohmstede, Anne Collette Frasher, Ann Margaret Harkey, Finley Audilet, Neal Maloney, Isla Tortorice, Clara Morrell, Mia Hemmenway, Maria Morrell, Fallyn Audilet, Cole Henson, Lucy Hallmark, Caroline Messina, Georgia Messina, Avery Jackson, Olivia Messina, Milly Moore, Raygan Callas, Mary Virginia Crenshaw, Harper Gaspard, Ali Clare Low, Mackenna Callas, Gaby Jaynes, Haley Weatherford, Brooklyn Isabell, Alice Montalbano, Lola Carter, Cullen Phelan, Bella Hallmark, Mary Ellis Jenkins, Ana Gaspard, Abigail Rose Albanese, Piper Moore, Ava Lee Albanese, Lilla Maloney, Ana Grace Albanese and many others. News of I do’s… Caroline Reasoner and Jonas Fertitta exchanged wedding vows last weekend in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Making the trek to the enchanting city were Karen and Kevin Henry, Susan and Barrett Reasoner, Paige Windam, Cece and David Heatherington, Margi and Rocky Chase, Vivian and Jerry Todd, Marilyn and Tom Bell, Nicole Fertitta, Mary and Luke Fertitta. Congrats!
