Omar Jimenez, 17, of Beaumont, was indicted April 10 on charges of possession of child pornography and possession with intent to promote child pornography.

According to the probable cause affidavit for Jimenez’s arrest, Sgt. Hillary Lyon, an investigator with the Criminal Investigation Division Child Exploitation Unit commissioned by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, began an investigation on Sept. 13, 2022, into multiple cyber tipline reports reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by Twitter and Google.

Twitter provided information that one of their users was selling or promoting child pornography on their platform. Google also provided information of their user possessing or promoting child pornography on their platform. After acquiring and viewing said files, it was determined the images were indeed child pornography as defined by the law.

Jimenez, who was 16 at the time the investigation began, was identified as the suspect and owner/operator of both the Twitter and Google accounts.

March 7, 2023, a residential search was executed; Jimenez was interviewed, and his cell phone was seized. Jimenez admitted to selling, promoting, viewing and possessing child pornography during the on-site preview of his cell phone, investigators report, where multiple files of child pornography were located.

Following a complete digital forensic examination, multiple files of child pornography were located on Jimenez’s phone, the allegation further details.
