Jesse Eric Gentry, 47, of Vidor, while on parole for previous theft charges, was indicted on April 24 by a Jefferson County grand jury on a state jail felony charge of theft of property valuing less than $2,500.

According to the probable cause affi- davit accompanying the indictment, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) responded to Comfort Suites Hotel on Walden Road on March 18, where a guest parked at the back of the hotel discovered his front passenger side window had been broken and miscellaneous clothing and items stolen off the front seat valued at $100.

After reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel, officers observed Gentry get out of a blue 2003 Chevrolet Corvette, approach the victim’s Dodge Ram 3500 Dually pickup, pull clothing from inside the vehicle, hop back into his Corvette, and left the scene.

Known from past theft incidents as a repeat offender, and with the Corvette registered in his name, officers identified Gentry and obtained a warrant for his arrest, noting he was still on parole until 2027 for theft charges.

Gentry’s record includes nine convictions in Jasper, Jefferson, Orange and Hardin counties for theft, which enhanc- es his most recent charge to a felony.
