Ames: No confirmed COVID-19 cases in Beaumont

Presently, the city of Beaumont has no confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to Mayor Becky Ames. “City events are continuing at this time. We are encouraging the community to take extra heath precautions as recommended by the CDC,” she said in a news release Friday afternoon.

UIL suspends all extracurricular school activities through March 29

To support the health and safety of our students and communities, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) is suspending all UIL sanctioned contests due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Texas. Effective March 16, all UIL interscholastic competition is suspended through March 29.

No emergency declared in Beaumont

Jefferson County’s emergency declaration due to the coronavirus pandemic does not cover the city of Beaumont, Mayor Becky Ames confirms.  “We are continuing to monitor the situation,” she said on Friday, March 13.  The Beaumont City Council will meet to discuss the matter early next week.
