DMV waiving certain requirements to expedite processing

In an effort to reduce the need for in-person transactions, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) worked with Governor Greg Abbott and our stakeholders to temporarily waive certain requirements for vehicle registration, vehicle titling and disabled parking placards.

Port Arthur ISD closing until 'further notice'

Effective March 17, 2020, all facilities and campuses of the Port Arthur Independent School District will be closed until further notice. Parents and students are asked to obtain course work which will be placed on the district and campus websites.

Spindeletop Center cancels events

No plans to cancel classes at Beaumont ISD

Beaumont Independent School District Superintendent Shannon Allen was featured in a mass call to district stakeholders alerting parents, students and staff to intentions to reopen classes following Spring Break on Monday, March 23.

Louisiana casinos to close for two weeks

Officials will close Louisiana casinos tonight at midnight over coronavirus concerns, which includes 15 riverboats, one land-based casino and four casinos location at horse racing properties including Delta Downs in Vinton.  At this time, the order for closure is two weeks. 

Beaumont Heritage Society cancels slate of events

The Beaumont Heritage Society will adhere to the CDC recommendations for mass gatherings in place for the next 8 weeks, asking for organizers to cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.
