PA reports another COVID death

Nov. 6, Port Arthur Health Department Director Judith Smith released word that another resident of the city has died due to complications related to COVID-19. This is the 40th COVID-19 related death for Port Arthur since the beginning of this pandemic.

The Beaumont Police Department has asked for the community's help locating a missing three-year-old child reported to be taken by his father. Kasai Baines, 3, was reportedly taken by his father, Damaarkus Baines. Damaarkus left on foot from the 1400 block of Washington Village Parkway on Nov.

Single bid opened for Ford Park sale

Just one bidder made a ploy for the purchase of Jefferson County’s Ford Park Entertainment Complex when bids were open at 11 a.m. Nov. 6.  Purchasing staff opened the lone bid packet, submitted by Port Arthur Renaissance GP LLC, revealing a bid below the minimum asked.

One dead in officer-involved shooting

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Texas Rangers Division, with the assistance of the Jefferson County sheriff and district attorney offices, is investigating an officer-involved shooting that result in the death of John Wesley Seymour, a 59-year-old Beaumont man.

BISD to resume bus routes

After carefully investigating and conducting contact tracing, Beaumont ISD has determined that the majority of transportation staff were not in close contact with the confirmed positive case, according to a news release. As such, the district will resume operating transportation routes on Nov. 3.

BPD arrests man for aggravated robbery

Just before 7:30 a.m. Oct. 26, BPD officers responded to 310 MLK in reference to an aggravated robbery, according to a news release. A clerk caught 37-year-old Beaumonter Larry Foster attempting to break into gaming machines.
