Fleeing mother abandons son

In the wake of hit-and-run, a mother was indicted Jan. 26 for allegedly leaving her 13-year-old child in a wrecked auto when she abandoned the car – and the child – and fled from the scene on foot. A Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted Miranda Antoinette Kellogg, 36 for abandoning a child.

Update, Feb. 7 at 2:56 p.m. : The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Kedrian Deshawn Perkins, who was arrested Feb. 4 after a murder warrant was placed on him for his arrest.  As of Feb. 7, Perkins is currently residing in the Jefferson County Jail with a bond set at $1,000,000.

Kindergarten through third-grade students at Amelia and Blanchette received 525 books donated by the Beaumont Association of Retired Teachers (BART). Fannie Brown, BART’s second Vice-President and Children’s Book Project Chair, collects books each year.
