After the alleged con woman’s own father told the court Aug. 25 he “can’t answer” whether he would like her to be released on bond while awaiting trial for seven charges, a local criminal judge concluded a hearing that spanned 11 days by sending the defendant back to jail.

Registration is now open for the ninth annual Neches River Rally, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m. Cost is $20 for those 12 and under, and $40 for those 13 and up. With no payments being made the day of the event, patrons are asked to do so online at bigthicket.org.

Beaumont Children’s Museum, located inside the Civic Center at 701 Main St., will host the return of “Toddler Takeover” every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. beginning Sept. 7. Each week BCM staff will engage young children ages 0-5 through stories, crafts, science experiments, music and movement.
