Leister appointed County Clerk

During a called meeting Thursday, Dec. 16, Jefferson County Commissioners voted 4-1 in favor of appointing an interim county clerk to replace another temporary placement.

Commissioner Shane Sinegal was the only “no” vote in a motion to replace retiring County Clerk Theresa Goodness with temporary clerk Laurie Leister. The item was originally scheduled for commissioners’ regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Dec. 14. However, that vote was postponed after Leister told judges she was unfamiliar with election law changes, as she’s only been in the office three months.

Leister will act as county clerk until Jefferson County voters go to the polls in 2022.
