Westbound hurricane traffic runs smoothly

Westbound traffic on I-10 in Beaumont was running smoothly 9 a.m., as Gulf Coast residents seek shelter from Hurricane Delta's path. 

Eastbound traffic was nearly nonexistent at the same time Friday morning. Northbound traffic on Hwy 287 toward Lumberton was also flowing freely.

According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), hurricane-force winds are expected this afternoon and evening between High Island, Texas and Morgan City, Louisiana. 

Residents in the aforementioned area, encompassing Jefferson and Orange counties, should also expect heavy rainfall and likely "significant" flash flooding Friday and Saturday.
