BPD: Man shot and killed trying to rob ex

Just after 6 p.m. Dec. 18, Beaumont police responded to a burglary on Cartwright Avenue, where the alleged suspect was shot and killed.

The caller advised that her ex-boyfriend was breaking into her residence. At some point during the burglary, the unnamed woman discharged a firearm and struck the suspect, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

The identity of the deceased won't be released until family is notified.
