Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced today that Port Arthur resident James Arceneaux, 53, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by a Jefferson County jury.  The same jury convicted Arceneaux yesterday for sexually assaulting a six (6) year old child in his Port Arthur home, on or about June 29, 2013.  The trial was held in the Criminal District Court, Judge John Stevens Jr. presiding.

A Jefferson County jury took less than an hour to convict and sentence a Port Arthur man, Milton D. Stephenson, 43,  to 55 years in prison for the felony offense of Burglary of a Habitation, announced Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw, according to a press release on July 19.

Theodore Paul Victor Jr. pleaded guilty to tax evasion today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith F. Giblin.

A Port Arthur man was pronounced dead Saturday, May 10, after rescue workers spent hours trying to find a way to retrieve the man, who had fallen from a Pleasure Island pier earlier that morning, but were unable to rescue him, before he drowned.

Christopher Ramirez, 26, of Port Arthur, was fishing with his girlfriend when he dropped his wallet in the water and jumped in to get it, Port Arthur police said in a press release. According to police, he was last seen struggling to stay above water along a fishing pier on North Levee Road on Pleasure Island.
