Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at approximately 10:25 a.m., a deputy with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop for the traffic violation of “following too closely” on I-10 at the 845 mile marker. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy noticed an odor of a masking agent and that the driver was extremely nervous. The driver gave the officer consent to search the vehicle.

A 57-year-old Rialto, California woman living in Port Arthur has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John Malcolm Bales on Feb. 5.

According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Angie Dang pleaded guilty on Oct. 2, 2014 to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.
