Williams ready for first fight victory on television

Cody Williams says this upcoming fight with Thomas de Almeida is not about redemption. Despite a winning pro record in the MMA cage at 4-3, Williams is 0-3 when he fights on television — which he will do again this Friday, Nov. 16, at Legacy 14 on AXS TV at 9 p.m. inside the Arena Theatre in Houston.

Kentucky Derby winning jockey, trainer head to Delta for Jackpot

Tips for taking a deer this season

The reports that I have been receiving from the Hill Country and East to the Texas Piney Woods are of an abundant supply of corns. Whenever that happens, the deer seem to not move much during the daylight hours. They will feed at night and remain near the feeding area, if possible. There are, however, some situations that will cause the deer to move around during the daylight hours even if ample food is nearby.

Duck hunters bingo on public hunts

Although it was a bit warm for the Southeast Texas duck season opener on Saturday, Nov. 3, most hunters that had access to fresh water did very well with lots of limits that included teal, gadwall, pintails and widgeon.

Beaumont’s Kirby Richards reports that his group had an easy hunt Saturday morning at the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge.

15 horses pre-entered for the $1 million Delta Jackpot

Led by Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint champion Hightail, the Delta Downs’ racing office received 15 pre-entries on Nov. 6 for this year’s Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Jackpot Day program will have a special first post time of 1:15 p.m., and it will feature eight stakes races and more than $2.2 million in total purse money awarded.

WSOF debuts this Saturday with stacked fight card
