CommunityBank of Texas announced Monday, March 17, that its holding company, CBFH Inc., has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MC Bancshares Inc., the holding company of Memorial City Bank, in an all cash transaction. The combined assets of the two independent and privately owned banks of roughly $2.8 billion make the combined company one of the largest privately held banks in Texas.

A Groves man charged with fondling two underage children was re- arrested last week and will likely face a new charge of possession of child pornography.

David Lawrence Guest, 51, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury Sept. 26, 2013 for indecency with a child and improper photography/visual recording, a second-degree felony and state jail felony, respectively.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Examiner, Guest’s trouble with the law began March 2013 when the daughter of a family friend made an outcry of sexual abuse to police.

A Beaumont man has been indicted after entering the Beaumont police station lobby brandishing a semi-automatic pistol.

Andrew Bradderson Savoy, 31, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury March 13 for making a terroristic threat, a third degree felony.

A woman with a history of mental illness has been indicted after the theft of a police cruiser and a wild chase through Beaumont.

Carlee Galmore, 31, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury March 13 on charges of felony theft, evading police with a motor vehicle and aggravated assault on a public servant, a second-degree felony, state jail felony and first-degree felony, respectively.

The Hamshire-Fannett Elementary School in the 2300 block of Burrell-Wingate Road in Jefferson County is closed indefinitely and classes for students have been canceled through Friday, March 21, after an early morning fire March 18 devastated the educational facility.
