Southern Pacific Depot in Orange

The Friends of the Orange Depot is still raising funds to transform the historic Southern Pacific Depot in Orange from a long-abandoned train station into a must-see museum and more for both visitors from the area and travelers from abroad. In furtherance of their noble efforts to educate and inspire tourists and local adventurers by revitalizing the historic structure, the Friends are hosting their first Depot Day at the Pavilion in Orange on Saturday, Oct. 18, and everyone is invited.

A 40-year-old Nederland man has been convicted of drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced in a Friday, Aug. 22 press release.

Ned and Jean Cole of Port Arthur need a new floor. The carpet they have at their charming yet modest home is about 12 years old now and is lumpy and misshapen, making it difficult for Jean to navigate when utilizing her walker or wheelchair. She has tripped and fallen across a bedroom of her home while just trying to make it over the humped carpet in the doorway. The tile in their kitchen and bathrooms is separating, making it unsafe and difficult to clean.
