A man was arrested outside the Pinehurst City Hall on Nov. 3 after failing to register as a sex offender as legally mandated, police in Pinehurst report. It was the man’s second arrest at the same location within a month.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and searching for leads in a shooting that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Chad Slaughter of Beaumont, the Beaumont Police Department reports.

According to a news release from BPD, patrol officers responded to a reported shooting inside an apartment in the Timberlake Courts Apartments located at 125 Interstate 10 in Beaumont at about 10:01 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the 26-year-old man dead with a possible gunshot wound to his chest.

Former Beaumont Independent School District superintendent Carrol Thomas was at the Jefferson County Courthouse on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, but the out-of-towner wasn’t there to vote. Detectives are investigating a stabbing, occurring Sunday Nov. 2, that sent a 33-year-old Beaumont man to the hospital.

At about 8:53 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to a family disturbance at a house in the 1300 block of Liveoak.  Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his upper back.
