A Silsbee man is dead after hitting an animal with his motorcycle, losing control, and crashing into a culvert.

On Sunday, Sept. 7 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the driver of a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle, 45-year-old Michael Hudson, was traveling southbound on Fresenius Road in Silsbee when he struck an animal in the roadway. The motorcycle veered off the road and struck a culvert.

A man facing murder charges for the death of a Vidor teen was convicted and sentenced to 75 years in prison last week. Aug. 27, a jury found Kelvin Lee Roy, 32, of Beaumont guilty in the Feb. 7 murder of Alexandria “Lexy” Bertrand, 16, of Vidor. Bertrand died when Roy purposefully crashed his car into her family’s vehicle.
