Lamar Soccer Camp

 

The Lamar University soccer program is offering a two-day, soccer-oriented, Spring Break Soccer Camp for boys and girls, kindergarten through 8th grades, March 14  and 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp allows children the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of soccer as well as advanced techniques from both the coaches and players of the Lamar soccer program. A special goalkeeper option is available for those interested in that position-specific training.

Prospective students from all undergraduate majors can learn more about the advantages of pursuing an MBA at Lamar University at an Open House scheduled for 5:30 - 7 p.m. March 19 in room 140 of the Galloway Business Building.

The MBA program at LU offers flexible options for students interested in earning a graduate degree in business. Lamar’s program allows students with an undergraduate degree in business to complete an MBA in as little as 16 months. Those with a different undergraduate major can earn an MBA in as little as two years.

The Woman's Club of Beaumont is having a style show featuring clothes from JC Penney stores and a luncheon Thursday, March 7 at their Clubhouse located at 575 Magnolia St. in Beaumont. The cost to get in is $15, but club president Dorothy Bourque said that is an outstanding value for lunch and fashion combined. Bourque said she is looking forward to the event and hopes attendance is high.

George Broussard, 23

One of Beaumont’s most-wanted criminals was found and arrested Tuesday, March 5, after months on the run.

After an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, officers with the U.S. Marshals Service, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Beaumont and Port Arthur Police Departments apprehended George Broussard, 23, at Lexington on the Lake apartments on N. Major in Beaumont, according to a BPD press release.

Police in Orange arrested a man at Flying J’s Monday morning for public intoxication after the man reportedly caused a disturbance at the Denny’s located at the truck stop. According to the report, once police were on the scene the man shouted at them, warning of a pending “doomsday.”

Andrew Greg Pedraza, a 43-year-old Beaumont man who pleaded guilty to continued molestation of a family member younger than 10 years old, was back in court Monday, March 4.

This time, the young girl’s father appeared in Criminal District Court before Judge John Stevens to hear the sentencing and to make a statement to the court.
