West End collision sends woman to hospital

At least one woman was sent to the hospital after a morning wreck at the intersection of Gladys and West Lucas streets in Beaumont’s West End.

Police said a woman in a maroon sedan was traveling northbound on West Lucas when, it seems, she pulled out in front of a vehicle traveling southbound on West Lucas at approximately 8:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14.

The woman in the maroon Honda was carefully loaded into an ambulance by Beaumont EMS moments after the wreck, but no other injuries — including to Amber Jernigan and her toddler in her silver sedan — were reported.

“I guess both of our lights were green,” Jernigan said as she held her crying toddler. “I’m assuming her arrow wasn’t on and she made that left turn.”

Traffic on the eastbound side of Gladys was shut down for at least 30 minutes while police and EMS cleared the road of debris and wrecked vehicles.
