Weather watch: Strong storms head to Southeast Texas

A cold front approaching Southeast Texas is expected to produce heavy rains and strong winds, according to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.

Residents are advised to watch for possible flash flooding in low-lying areas and pay attention to debris that may result from winds at approximately 25 mph.

A recent update from the NWS states, “Strong thunderstorms are expected and there is the threat that some storms may become severe. The main threat will be from damaging winds although isolated tornadoes will be possible. In addition... very heavy rainfall is expected with this system and flooding in some locations is expected.”
