Transient stabs Beaumont man in face

The Beaumont Police Department was called out to the downtown bus stop Tuesday, Dec. 20, regarding an altercation landed one man in jail and the other in the hospital.

Officer Cody Guedry said officers responded to a call about a stabbing victim and upon their arrival found a man with multiple wounds. Information gathered shows the victim had gotten into a verbal altercation with another man which then took a physical turn when the second man pulled out a pocket knife.

The victim had three knife wounds – a slash on his neck and two puncture wounds to his face. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds, and the suspect, identified as 58-year-old transient Charles Lee, was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and bond was set at $15,000.
