Teacher assaulted at junior high campus

Police in Orange responded to a call from Little Cypress Jr. High School Monday afternoon, March 4, in reference to a student’s assault of a teacher there.

At approximately 2 p.m., Officer Joshua Dempsey reported he responded to the call and met with the principal of the school, Mitzi Conn. Conn told the officer a student at the campus assaulted another student during a sixth-grade science class. During the altercation, the attacking student reportedly shoved the instructor into her desk.

According to Sherri Combs, LC-M CISD public information specialist, the fight was actually between two students, one of whom was beaten badly, and the teacher was simply caught in the middle in her efforts to separate the two.

The aggressor was arrested for assault on the other student and taken to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Detention Center.
