Structure fire on St. Helena Street in Beaumont

Beaumont firefighters responded to an early morning structure fire at a vacant house on St. Helena Street on Aug. 6, and investigators reportedly believe it to have been the result of arson - the second apparently deliberately set fire reported within a week's time.

According to a news release from the Beaumont Fire Department, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire in the 3300 block of St. Helena Street shortly after 4:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the front of a vacant house ablaze with flames spreading into the attic area.

Firefighters were able to control the fire within approximately five minutes. The house was vacant with no utilities connected, and no one was injured. Investigators say the cause of the fire appears to be deliberate.The investigation is ongoing.
