Quota International of Southeast Texas was chartered in 1946 in Port Arthur. The club is a member of Quota International with branches in 14 countries worldwide. The local club’s charitable trust serves the hearing impaired, disadvantaged women and children, U.S. troops and returning veterans, and offers scholarships to area seniors from low-income families. The group has been honoring local individuals that enhance the quality of life in Southeast Texas since 1946. Previous honorees include Al Caldwell, Don Pumphrey, Verna Rutherford, Dr. Sam Monroe and former area mayors Frances Monk, Evelyn Lord and Oscar Ortiz.
“We’ve been working on this for several months,” said Quota International club’s banquet coordinator Nancy Currie. “We want to remind people to get their reservations in now.”
Local radio host Al Caldwell will serve as the Master of Ceremonies at the Feb. 21 gala event. A silent auction will be conducted during the banquet with proceeds going to the 100 Club of Southeast Texas. Underwriter tables are $1,500, sponsor tables are $1,000 and individual seats are $50.
