Police find evidence of murder/suicide in Beaumont couple's deaths

Police say a Beaumont couple discovered dead inside their home in the 300 block of Church Street on Monday, Jan. 20, at approximately 11:30 a.m. died in murder/suicide. Mark Pelligrin, 57, shot Kathy Pelligrin, 55, and then shot himself, the Beaumont Police Department said in a press release.

Police say the evidence is conclusive.

According to a BPD news release, when police arrived at the scene, the male victim's employer and daughter were onsite. The employer said when he was not able to reach his employee, he went to the man's home to check on him. When no one answered at the residence, the employer reportedly became concerned and notified the man's daughter, who lived next door. She went into the house and found her father lying on the kitchen floor unresponsive. Police discovered a second deceased person, and according to the report, the 57-year-old man and 55-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

The couple had been married for two years. Family members said there were marital problems, but there was no documented reports of violence between them.
