Juveniles start fire in Beaumont, Beaumont Fire Rescue reports

Three juveniles are believed by arson investigators to have been responsible for a structure fire in Beaumont on July 13, Beaumont Fire Rescue reports.

According to a news release from Beaumont Fire Rescue, at approximately 4:43 p.m. on Sunday, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a fire reported in the 1600 block of Prairie Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they found the front room of a vacant house in flames. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the front room.

There were no utilities connected to the house, and the cause of the fire appears to be deliberate, firefighters report.

Neighbors told investigators they saw three black male juveniles run from the house shortly before the fire was discovered. With the help of the neighbors, fire investigators were able to locate and identify the juvenile suspects. The juveniles were then reportedly released to the custody of a relative, pending further investigation.
