Haynes guilty of blocking public passageway

After deliberating little more than 30 minutes, a six-man jury has found Jessie Haynes guilty of blocking a public passageway on Thursday, May 22.

The verdict comes after more than an hour of closing arguments Thursday.

Prosecutor Wayln Thompson opened the arguments, saying a guilty verdict would send a resounding message to the Southeast Texas community.

Thompson said the fact that BISD attorney Melody Chappell was the only witness is a testament to Haynes’ guilt.

“She does what Melody Chappell does best. She protects the interests of the Beaumont school board i.e. the Beaumont School District at whatever cost,” Thompson said. “That is what she’s going to do. She gets paid big bucks to do it. Her firm is paid big bucks to do it.”

I have seen the future of BISD and it is not good

Well no doubt Ms Haynes will wiggle or slither her way out of this as will most of the perps who have made BISD a cash cow for themselves and turned the district into a welfare distribution center rather than an education center. In ten years there will be young students attending the BISD Carroll "Butch" Thomas & Jessie Haynes School of Ethics.. If we do not fight for the students now then it is very possible that is our future.. The moral compass of the majority of the current school board and administration is not only broken ..one wonders if said compass ever existed..

I can't hear you singing Jessie

Why aren't you singing " we shall overcome", Jessie?
And you use Carrol Thomas as a character witness?
Why didn't you use someone that is respected?
Smooth move.

BISD

The trial was a waste of taxpayer money. There are children that go to bed hungry every night. Homeless people populate our streets. This country is in crisis. Why waste time and money on revenge?

Depends on What the Definition 'hunger' Really Is

I'm hungry for knowledge. The whole thing is to learn every day, to get brighter and brighter. That's what this world is about. You look at someone like Gandhi, and he glowed. Martin Luther King glowed. Mohammad Ali glows. I think that's from being bright all the time, and trying to be brighter.

I can't believe you'd say

I can't believe you'd say this, after all the taxpayer money that has been thrown away by this school board.
Nuts

The Moral of the Quote

The moral of the quote is that anyone in the classroom should have a natural 'hunger' to learn . . . And, what is taught, how it is taught and where it is taught should not be based upon having to spend an exorbitant amount of money. Look only to George Washington Carver as an example of being able to achieve absent the millions of dollars spent in the name of education. . . . or, on a football stadium falsely tagged with a name claiming to be an educational support center.

Who is paying for Haynes

Who is paying for Haynes lawyer?BISD/taxpayers?

It's nice that the judge

It's nice that the judge decided we shouldn't pay for her 3 hots and a cot.. I hope her appeal falls through also. It's about time BISD employees start paying for doing things their way and not following the law.

Jessie Haynes

Jessie guilty? It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
