Fatal accident in Port Arthur

A young Port Arthur resident was killed early July 7 when his vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole in the 4800 block of Dryden Road in Port Arthur.

According to a news release from PAPD, officers were dispatched to that location at approximately 6:19 a.m. on Sunday morning in reference to a major accident. The driver, 17-year-old Christopher Jones, was the lone occupant of the SUV involved in the accident and was later pronounced dead by Judge Tom Gillam. Police are still investigating the accident.
