City, Miller trust to honor Woodhead for exceptional service to Miller Library
The City of Beaumont and the Miller Community Fund will honor Ben Woodhead for his years of service to the Miller Library on Thursday, Aug. 21.
In his capacity as senior vice president and trust officer for Capital One Wealth and Asset Management, Woodhead managed the R.C. and Byrdie Miller Community Fund. The trust was established in 1978, and it funded construction of the library, which was completed in 1982. Since that time, the trust has provided for improvements to the Miller Branch, including an extensive renovation project completed in 2013.
As part of the celebration, representatives from the city and the Miller Community Fund will officially bring online two projects: a coffee bar and seating area inside the library, and a multi-purpose seating and patio area outside the building. The patio features a sculpture, “Vintage Search Engine”, by Jerolyn Bahm-Colombik, which will be dedicated to Woodhead.
“Ben Woodhead has been a visionary leader and true friend of the library throughout the years,” said Jean Moncla, vice president and trust officer for Capital One Wealth and Asset Management. “We are so excited to honor him for his years of service, as well as celebrate these two wonderful additions to the city’s busiest library branch.”
The R.C. Miller Memorial Library is located at 1605 Dowlen Road. For more information, call 409-866-9487. The ceremony begins at 9 a.m., and is open to the public.
