Calcasieu Parish deputy killed in crash

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Randall L. Benoit, 41, was killed shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, Jan. 18, following a head-on collision on Highway 27. The 18-year veteran of the department was on duty at the time of the accident.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office said Benoit’s patrol car was struck head-on by another vehicle, causing fatal injuries. The crash is still under investigation, and funeral arrangements for the deputy are pending.
