Bike-riding burglar nabbed in Port Arthur
A 53-year-old Port Arthur man who goes by the name "Boo Boo" made the mistake of being seen by police after stealing a flat screen television from a Third Street home Sept. 22.
Sunday evening around 5:30 p.m., police spotted a man on a bicycle carrying a small flat screen television in the 3600 block of Procter Street in Port Arthur.
The Port Arthur Police Department officer stopped 53-year-old Robert Casmire Jr., also known as "Boo Boo," and after further investigation, it was revealed that Casmire, of Port Arthur, was in possession of stolen property from a burglary that had just been committed, according to a Port Arthur Police Department Offense Report obtained by The Examiner.
The homeowner told police that she did not give anyone permission to enter her garage and remove the $300 Polaroid flat screen TV, the report states. Casmire also stole digital photos and a digital video recording.
Casmire was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where he was booked for burglary of a building. His bond was set at $10,000, and he remains in jail, PAPD Sgt. Scott Gaspard said. The stolen property was recovered and released back to the owner.
