One woman is dead and another man injured after a late night shooting and robbery at Knights Inn in Beaumont.

According to a BPD press release, police responded to the Knight's Inn at 4085 I-10 S. at about 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, to find a female with a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Police also found a male victim with a non-life-threatening head injury.

Police said the two victims were registered guests at the hotel who were caught in an attempted robbery and subsequent altercation. During that altercation, the female was shot and the male hit in the head.

Police identified the deceased victim as Kendra Crump, a 27-year-old resident of Monroe, La. An autopsy was scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Two possible persons of interest are being sought by police.

"One is described as tall and thin with short dread-locks wearing white shorts," Sgt. Rob Flores said in the press release. "The second is described as large and stocky."

Both are described as African-American males.

Although the men have not been caught yet, Flores said BPD is working hard to solve the robbery and subsequent murder.

"Detectives are still in the process of investigating this incident," Flores said in the press release. "They are in the early stages of this very fluid investigation."
