Auto-pedestrian accident claims life of elderly Orange woman

An auto-pedestrian accident claimed the life of an elderly woman in Orange over the weekend. According to a police report, 86-year-old Faye Williams Bounds of Orange was struck and killed Jan. 26 at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of F.M. 3247 while crossing the road after retrieving her mail.

Police reported Bounds was on the east side of F.M. 3247 and was attempting to cross back over to her residence on the west side of the highway. The elderly woman failed to yield right of way, according to the accident report, and a 20-year-old male Orange resident driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling northbound struck her. Justice of the Peace Rodney Price pronounced Bounds dead at the scene. Police reported the driver of the truck attempted to stop and skidded about 30 feet before making contact with the victim.
