Area Police Departments Net Results in Warrant Round-Up
The Port Arthur, Beaumont and Groves Police Departments were busy Tuesday, March 8th as part of the Texas Warrant Round-Up initiative as the three departments joined forces to apprehend motorists with outstanding fines and warrants to the tune of 34 arrests, clearing 140 warrants, according to Lt. Steve Brinson, Asst. Division Commander of Port Arthur's Field Operations Divsion.
The warrants consisted of approximately $69,728 in assessed fines. The three departments placed units throughout Port Arthur Tuesday and used License Plate Readers that are equipped on cars from all the departments which can bring up data on a car's driver when the LPR scans a license plate.
In addition to apprehending citizens for outstanding fines here in Jefferson County, Brinson said in the release that a stolen car was also recovered and the driver had outstanding warrants from Beeville County.
