The official start to the 2012 NFL season is still several months away but several local players got the call last weekend to join teams as undrafted free agents or were invited to participate in an upcoming camp.
Warren High School has hired John Woodard to be its new football coach and athletic director. Woodard replaces Kevin Barbay, who resigned in March to become an assistant football coach at Lamar University.
Woodard, 52, comes over from Class A Ganado where he served as the defensive coordinator the last two seasons as the team went 22-2 during that span. He was last a head coach at Class A Union Hill for two seasons and finished 4-16.
