Three days after a 14-year-old Beaumont Independent School District student was reported missing from the Ozen High School campus, her mother reports the child is now home.
Shavoner Wilson told The Examiner she found her daughter, 14-year-old daughter, Marchelle Washington, Friday, Nov. 30, with the help of a neighborhood informant. Washington had been missing since Nov. 27.
The BISD Police Department was the sole agency investigating the girl’s vanishing because the child was last seen at the school, although the district did not admit responsibility for the teen absconding. BISD spokesman Ron Reynolds acknowledged that the BISD PD was looking for Wilson’s daughter, but could offer no further details at the time.
“The Beaumont Independent School District is concerned for the safety of all students and staff,” Reynolds said. “BISD’s police department is taking steps and working with other law enforcement agencies to help ensure the safe return of this student who has been reported missing.”
Reynolds said he could offer no further information as to how the student left BISD’s supervision. A report filed at the BISD PD at noon on Tuesday only states, “The student left Ozen and never went home.”
