A team from the Port Arthur Fire Department rescued a dock worker on Thursday, Sept. 19, after the man fell 25-30 feet into a ship at Oxbow Docks on Coke Dock Road in Port Arthur.
According to a release from the PAFD, units responded at approximately 8:37 a.m. to a call regarding a man who had fallen into the cargo hold of a ship docked at Oxbow. The victim had reportedly fallen into the hold while attempting to secure a boom for an onboard crane. The PAFD Rescue Team and members of the Hunstman Rescue Team located the victim and extracted him from the hold. Rescuers described the victim as "alert and oriented" when found. He was transported to St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department by Air Rescue and treated for what were reported as "non-life threatening" injuries.
