Police in Port Arthur responded to a major accident Monday, July 1, after a driver failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into DeQueesn Elementary School.
According to a news release from the Port Arthur Police Department, a 39-year-old man who was traveling eastbound in a white Hinda Accord failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection of 8th Street and the elementary school at approximately 8:39 p.m. Police reported the vehicle collided with the front of the school and continued through the wall into the building. The man was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont in critical condition. No other injuries were reported. No details have yet been released to explain why the man failed to stop.
