At least one man is in critical condition after he was stabbed Wednesday night.
At about 7:40 p.m. March 27, officers responded to the 1700 block of W. Lavaca Street. According to a BPD press release, an unnamed 36-year-old man told police he had been in an argument and a posse had confronted him in his driveway as a result. Outnumbered and under attack, the man told police he used a knife to fend off his attackers, stabbing at least one man multiple times.
As officers attempted to locate the group, who fled on foot, Baptist Hospital staff called BPD’s 911 operations center and informed them a man with multiple stab wounds had just arrived by private auto.
Officers did not name the 25-year-old stabbing victim in the press release.
Baptist Hospital emergency staff stabilized the man before he was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he remained in critical condition, the press release said.
Detectives said the stabbing is still under investigation and they will refer the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office when that investigation is complete.
