According to Beaumont police, a man entered the BBVA Compass bank at 11th Street and Interstate 10 in Beaumont shortly before 10 a.m. Feb. 6 and demanded cash from the teller, claiming he had a gun. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5-feet-8, wearing a light blue hoodie. He was last seen fleeing the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Sgt. Rob Flores of the Beaumont Police Department said the suspect dropped some cash in the parking lot while running from the robbery. Surveillance footage of the suspect will be forthcoming, Flores added.
“It was a quick response time, and we have a perimeter set up to look for the suspect,” Flores said shortly after the bank robbery. Anyone with any information about the robbery or the suspect is asked to contact the BPD at (409) 832-1234.
No one at the scene of the robbery was injured, Flores said, but the bandit did tell the bank teller he was armed with a gun.
