The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed a case against former BISD warehouse supervisor Daryl Johnson, who was fired in May 2012 under suspicion of theft and subsequently indicted on two counts of felony theft. The indictment alleged Johnson stole approximately $280,000.

Police say they think they know who did it. They can’t identify the suspect legally, but they think they know. Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough says, in time, science will prevail and the culprit will be caught, but for now there is nothing he can do without potentially endangering the viability of the case.

Area law enforcement agencies and municipal courts are joining forces to host a warrant roundup beginning Friday, July 25, the Beaumont Police Department reports, and several cities within Jefferson County are participating.

The effort targets thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code, and higher-charge warrants from around the area.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Randy Hofstetter, 28, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list, and a cash reward up to $5,000 is now being offered for information leading to his capture.
