Orange responders battle Wednesday bedroom fire

The City of Orange Fire Department responded to a report of a bedroom on fire at 604 Morrell in the Navy Park addition Wednesday, Sept. 14, around 10:20 p.m.

Woman sentenced to 20 years for intoxication manslaughter

After spending three days in trial, Tanjia Colleen Smith pleaded guilty to charges of intoxication manslaughter stemming from a July 2010 accident that claimed the life of 55-year-old Dudley Butaud.

Butaud was on his way home to celebrate his 30th anniversary with his wife Kathy when the accident occurred on Highway 365.

The agenda for Thursday's Beaumont Independent School District Board of Trustees regular meeting is listed inside and the attachments, which a majority of trustees voted to keep secret from the public, have been provided. The Examiner obtained copies of the attachments that BISD officials wanted to keep from the public and has placed them above the meeting agenda.

Man arrested for stealing wire from burned building

On Sunday, Sept. 11, Beaumont police officers were dispatched to 2290 Eastex Freeway, the Golden Triangle Directory building, at about 8:30 a.m. in reference to a theft in progress. Just over a week ago, the facility was destroyed by a fire and was left unusable.

10 Years Later

 

Ten years ago today, the United States was under attack, carving an indelible moment in time that introduced everyone to a new phenomenon – the Post 9/11 World.

Not since Pearl Harbor nearly 70 years prior to Sept. 11, 2001, had Americans felt so vulnerable on its own soil and so uncertain as to what the future held for the most powerful country in the world.
