Two 19-year-old men have been charged with capital murder in connection with the Nov. 3 shooting of 26-year-old Chad Slaughter of Beaumont, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department on Nov. 19.

Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced Nov. 18 that the May term grand jury decided to take no action against a Port Arthur police officer who had been charged in a misdemeanor assault case.

Orange residents, and everyone, should be keeping a close eye on their children after a report of an attempted kidnapping near Circle P in Orange on Nov. 16.

According to an incident report from the Orange Police Department, two black males in a faded maroon car with black wheels, the driver wearing a black shirt and the passenger wearing a blue and white bandana, reportedly approached a juvenile on the street. The men reportedly fled when the juvenile's mother drew near.

The Texas Education Agency names four Beaumont Independent School District campuses were reporting students present at school to receive funding not due to the district. Of those cited with infractions were all Central High School, Ozen High School, South Park Middle School and Jones-Clark Elementary School.
