At the scene of a domestic disturbance, a troubled young woman was able to drive off in an unsecured police car and later crashed it on Highway 69, the Beaumont Police Department said in a press release Friday. She and an officer suffered minor injuries.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Fulton on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 1:31 p.m. Two officers arrived on scene at different times. The disturbance was between a mother and daughter. The daughter, a mentally ill 21-year-old, was off her medication and out of control, according to the BPD press release.
