Port Arthur police respond to sexual assault attempt

At approximately 11:38 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Port Arthur Police Department responded to an attempted aggravated sexual assault at 2500 Gulfway Drive.

The victim informed officers that the suspect approached her on the street and grabbed her. He then began striking the victim in the face, telling her he was going to have sex with her. The victim fought back, broke free and ran for help.

City says it’s a misunderstanding

Beaumont Independent School District Superintendent Carrol Thomas caused a small panic in parents when he uttered “as of right now we will not have school crossing guards at our schools next year” during the district’s May school board meeting Thursday, May, 18.

According to Thomas, the city of Beaumont has been paying half of the expenses associated with school crossing guards and no longer wishes to do so.

Woman killed in daycare parking lot in Nederland

Nederland Police are still gathering information Friday morning after a woman was shot dead in the parking lot of the daycare she worked at in Nederland, according to information provided by Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush.

Louisiana Man Guilty of East Texas Child Pornography Violations

BEAUMONT, TX—A 66-year-old Covington, Louisiana man has pleaded guilty to child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Charles Edward Reese pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography and wire fraud today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn.
